Today I received a lesson in growing up. Let me preface by saying that I am fanatical about Tori Amos. The last time I saw her perform live was in November of 2002 at two wonderful shows, one in Tampa and the other in Orlando. At the completion of the “Scarlet’s Walk Tour,” Tori unexpectedly announced that she would be touring again with Ben Folds in her “Lottapianos Concert.” Unfortunately I received the news only a few weeks before she was to arrive and sadly I had not a penny to my name. In the past I would have just charged the ticket and thought nothing of it, only this time my credit cards were at their maximum limit. I had no choice but to miss the concert. Now as I sit here, swallowed by a cloud depression, I feel as if I betrayed my love. The lesson I learned is one of great importance: “If ever I am broke and can not afford tickets to a Tori Amos concert, the best option is to whore myself out to the highest bidder.” I will not make this same mistake twice.
