Boo hoo :( I'm sick again. Doesn't my body understand that I have a test and a paper due on Wednesday? Curse this body with all its incredible muscles!

Why can’t any of the

Why can’t any of the spineless politicians in our government speak as unreservedly about the President’s war on Iraq as can Nelson Mandela? “What I'm condemning is that one power with a president who has no foresight or cannot not think properly is now wanting to plunge the world into a holocaust.”—Nelson Mandela, on NPR.

I finally finished my new

I finally finished my new template, which I am happy with it. I just need to finish my links and get my archives up, but for some reason I can’t remember how I did it the last time. Anyway, bell hooks is coming to do a reading at Inkwood books. I have been asking my friends to see who is familiar with her; alas it seems that my friends are deficient in good feminist discourse. However, Jennifer was familiar with her name, so she'll go with me. I just caught myself making a mistake. I initially capitalized bell hooks; however one interesting thing about her is that she never capitalizes her name. Decapitaliztion is an attempt for her to take the attention off the author and place it on the content of the work. Just a little bit of FYI. That seems about all I can muster up tonight. I have about 50 pages of reading and a paper to write tonight, which I will begin after I go have a lovely supper with my honey.

I think I finally figured

I think I finally figured it out (without any help from my web host I might add). Soon frangipani.8m.com will be no more and riotpoof.com will reign supreme. I will set up the new template when I get home today. I'm anxious about posting again. I have a lot of things I want to talk about. So for all of you who have been wondering what has been going on, things will be up and running soon. All of you being just Joe, but at least one person reads my web site! Peace.

I am trying to get

I am trying to get things back up but I keep running into bumps so it is delayed a bit (for all of those who are wondering). Anyway, on a political note: Salon had a interesting article today about an anti-war ad that a group called Moveon.org. There are two commercials, one from the 60's anti-war movement and one modern reprise of the same ad. Go HERE to view them.

A changes they a come

I'm in the midst of changing my domain and website design so things are a little confusing. I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing so it might be funky for a few days. Plus things have been dramatic around here lately so I haven't had the motivation to work on it. I'll try to get it straightened out this week. Hopefully then all my links will be working and frangipani with be no more.

Every year Christmas becomes less

Every year Christmas becomes less like a holiday and more like a chore. The younger, less jaded, Christopher would begin the rituals in late November beginning with the set up of the manger, Christmas lights, and watching my collection of Christmas movies. These activities never failed to ignite the holiday spirit. Starting about three years ago; however, these simple chores failed to ignite anything except distain for the coming holiday. I figured I needed a change so I retired the manger and pulled out the big guns—the Menorah. To my surprise, Chanukah turned out to be a fabulous way to celebrate the holiday season. Oddly it seemed to surprise people that someone who isn’t Jewish decided to celebrate Chanukah. On the other hand a non-Christian, an atheist at that, can celebrate Christmas without a second thought. Interesting, eh? Anyway, Chanukah was great so I planned on doing the same this year, but when the time came along I just didn’t feel like it. Maybe I’m just at that age where I don’t enjoy the Christmas season as much? Or maybe I’m clinically depressed? (See earlier post) Neither answer seems to fit right. This question vexes me? Will I never again enjoy visons of dancing sugar plums?

Last night the perritas decided

Last night the perritas decided to eat an entire Hershey Bar. As you know, chocolate is toxic to dogs so we had to take them to the emergency vet to induce vomiting and then coat their little tummies in activated charcoal. They are both fine but that became one expensive candy bar!

Finals are over and I

Finals are over and I am officially on holiday break. I won't feel relief until grades are released on Thursday, however I am trying to be productive with my free time. I have accumulated a list of things I want to have done before the start of spring semester: 1. Lose 10 pounds. 2. Finish Reading "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (I've been picking at it for almost 2 months). 3. Finish Reading "Gender and Psychology." 4. Change the layout of my web site. 5. Begin research for my thesis. 6. Try to motivate myself to go out a little more. 7. Be nicer to the husband.

This is a conversation I

This is a conversation I had just five minutes ago: Me: Sir, what is it that I can help you with? Caller: I want you to inform the president that I just promoted Sgnt. (name with held) to Major. Me: If you have any information or complaints please call your local law enforcement or you representative. Caller: I own that airforce base you work at. The federal government just rents it from me. Me: What is your name? Caller: Hallmark. Transfer me to who is in charge. Me: I am not going to transfer you anywhere. I have been told that you are harassing people here. Caller: Harassing? Do you know who I am? Me: I think you need mental health counceling. Caller: I dont' need counceling. Me: I think you do. Caller: I think you need an enema. End Call. So this is what I'm doing instead of having a drink at the Castle.

Happy 100th birthday Strom Thurman!!! You have been good for laughs and we'll hate to see you go. I knew you didn't mean what you said about homosexuals. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the window at the home.
